Calcium chloride also assists in stabilizing a road surface, which helps to reduce frost damage and overall wear.  The combination of liquid calcium chloride’s strong moisture film, high surface tension and low vapor pressure, along with calcium chloride’s thirst for moisture causes aggregate particles to bind together.  This leads to unpaved surfaces being more compact creating better road stabilization.
